WOD 1b – For the remaining time partners alternate rounds on:
- 10 Thrusters 115/75 (Intermediate 95/65 – Beginner DB Thrusters 30/20# DBs)
- 10 Burpee Slam Balls 20/16# (Rx = Hands on ball during push-up portion of burpee. Intermediate & Beginner = Hands on ground during push-up portion of burpee.)
Score for 1a is Time and score for 2a is Rounds + Reps.
100 pts possible for each. A total of 200 pts. possible between 1a and 1b.
See video here on burpee slam balls.
WOD #2 Floaters – “Avoid your Goat”
There are six 2:00 mini-WODs. Each partner will perform 3. Partners choose which ones they want to do.
Mini-WOD 2a# – 2:00 AMRAP of K2E (Intermediate – hanging knee raises)
Mini-WOD 2b# – 2:00 AMRAP of Bench Press 155/85# (Intermediate 115/65#) Your partner needs to be there to spot.
Score for 2a + 2b is total reps between the two.
Mini-WOD 2c# -Max # of ring muscle-ups, C2Bs, pull-ups or ring rows without coming off. Each movement has a different # of pts. per rep. Score is total # of points. Athletes choose which movement they want to do. No switching movements once started. Value per rep is: Muscle-ups = 12 pts. / C2Bs = 4 pts. / Pull-ups = 2 pt. / Ring rows = 1 pt. (Arms perpendicular under rings and feet on a box so that body is parallel to the floor in the bottom/hang starting position.)
Mini-WOD 2d# – Max # of Strict HSPUs, kipping HSPUs or HR Push-ups in 2 minutes. Each movement has a different # of pts. per rep. Score is total # of points. Athletes choose which movement they want to do. No switching movements once started. Value per rep is: Strict HSPUs = 12 pts / Kipping HSPUs = 6 pts / HR Push-ups = 2 pts
HSPUs standard is the same as last year’s CrossFit Open, except we will subtract 1/2″ from that. If you choose to do kipping HSPUs and end up doing a strict one, that is fine but it will still only count 6 pts.
Score for 2c + 2d is total points between the two.
Mini-WOD 2e# – 2 minutes to establish heaviest single unbroken Bear Complex. Bear Complex = 1 cycle through of the following sequence: Squat Clean (or Power Clean and Ft. Squat) + S2O + Back Squat + S2O + back to ground (touch and go). Bar may only rest in hang position, front rack or back rack. Hands may not come completely off of bar at any time, but grip maybe lose. (Note: We changed this a bit from initial posting. We think this will improve the competition.) Your partner can help you change weights for multiple attempts. See video here for Bear Complex.
Mini-WOD 2f# – 2 minutes to establish Max. Clean & Jerk. Your partner can help you change weights for multiple attempts.
Score for 2e + 2f is the total wt. between the two.
A total of 300 pts possible for all mini-WODs. 100 pts. possible for each pair of mini-WODs.
WOD #3 – “Cliff Hanger”
10:00 AMRAP for time
One partner bikes while the other partner works through the couplet. Partners switch places after every 20 cals on the Bike. Upon switching partners will continue working through the couplet where other partner left off.
- 20 Weighted Lunges into Step-ups w/ 20″ box 45/30# DBs (Intermediate 30/20# DBs – Beginner = just body wt.)
- 2 Rope Climbs – Each rope climb = 10 reps (Intermediate = May skip rope climbs if desired for 2 burpee penalty, but gets no points for rope climbs. Beginner = 2 Ground to Standing)
Score is total cals biked + reps.
200 pts possible for WOD 3.
See video here for weighted lunges into step-ups.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
We have plenty of free onsite parking. We are located at a major intersection – Gary Ave. and Geneva Rd.
Can people come and watch? Can spectators come for free?
Yes! We encourage friends and family to come and cheer you on. And, yes they can come for free!
What facilities do you have?
We have a 6,250+ sf state-of-the-art training facility with all the amenities. Free parking. A/C and Heat. Clean bathrooms w/ showers. Drinking fountains. Plenty of storage, including lockers (bring your own lock if you want to lock up your belongings.)
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Yes, write us at events@ftxcrossfit.com
Do your events run on time?
Yes, all our competitions to date have started on time and have ended on or before the scheduled finish time.
What’s the refund policy?
Due to the nature of this type of event, we can’t offer refunds. We allocate funds to things like prizes, staff, equipment and more based upon the number of registered athletes, and allowing refunds would make it impossible to plan, budget and run an event like this.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
We don’t allow refunds, but if you can’t make it then you can have someone else take your place. Though they do have to be in the same division as you would have been.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn’t match the person who attends?
Yes, as long as the division remains the same.
