FTX Obstacle Course
During the summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day (weather permitting) we will dedicate the following Saturday class times to our obstacle course. During these classes we will have a special workout that incorporates our Obstacle Course. You will still be able to do Open Gym, but our focus will be the Obstacle Course. FTX is one of the few facilities that has an obstacle course, which is a great opportunity to vary your workouts that are not possible elsewhere. And if you want to do an Obstacle Course Race (OCR), then these WODs will get you ready.
- 1st Saturday of the month – 10am Class
- 3rd Saturday of the month – 11am Class

Overview of our programming this week
We are on week 8 of this 9-week cycle that has been focusing more on the heavier Olympic lifting (Snatch/Clean). We continue to lift 3 days a week while mixing in some Jerks, Front Squats, Deadlifts and Bench Press. We are focusing on replicating good quality lifts, rep after rep. The Jerk is separated from the Clean to fixate on one movement at a time. Each Oly day we’ll start everyone off with a PVC pipe, and then transitioning into an empty barbell. We want you to improve with these movements properly, and we’ll focus on the essentials each and every Olympic strength day.
Strength/Skill work for this week:
Monday – N/A
Tuesday –Snatch
Wednesday – Clean
Thursday –Split Jerk
Friday – Snatch Balance
Saturday – Mini-pump leg day (extra)
Murph is coming and Monday we continue our preparation for this iconic hero WOD. A weighted vest is optional. On Tuesday, we start our first workout from the individual Quarter Finals. This one introduced the Single Under Crossover mixed in with DB Snatches and OH Lunges. Moving on to Wednesday, we have another quarterfinal metcon, featuring a new movement in the competitive realm, the V-Up. That combined with rowing and GHDs makes for a great cardio and core combo. Thursday will be a “Just Move” day, giving a break to those who have been working hard during the week, while athletes who want to push themselves can still get a great workout with the Tabata of KBS, Bike and Burpees. The week finishes off with an ascending reps scheme of Wall Walks, with Front Squats before every set. Those who attend Saturday’s session will experience a great upper-body workout from the Age Group Quarterfinals, in a partner style that will have you running, climbing ropes and bench pressing.
