Murph – This Memorial Day Weekend

The summer season kicks off next weekend with Memorial Day, but in the CrossFit world it also means Murph! Next Saturday, May 28th, we are doing Murph. We’ve been preparing you for it for several weeks now. Please note that we will be closed Memorial Day on Monday, May 30th. On Saturday we will be running the Murph workout during each of our regularly scheduled classes: 8am, 9am, 10am and 11am. We will still have Open Box from 12pm – 1:30pm, and you can of course do Murph on your own during that time as well. Anyone wearing their Fight shirt for Murph can have a free FitAid or Protein Bar.

FTX Rates

As of 7/1/22 our membership rate and 10-packs will go from $175 to $185. Discount %s will remain the same for all current customers. These new rates will be effective 6/1/22 for new members.
Raising rates is not something we want to do. As any business must do given the current economic reality, we have to account for the unprecedented level of inflation. These economic factors are not our doing, and we cannot ignore them. To be the best FTX possible, to maintain our facilities, retain the best coaches, and adequately cover expenses, we need to increase our rates accordingly. We are by no means in a unique position as all businesses are currently having to adjust their pricing.
On the other hand, remember that if you’ve been a member at FTX for 6 months or more and you become unemployed, your membership is free for up to 6 months or until you regain employment. Also, if you are or you know of a member experiencing economic hardship, let us know so that we can come together as a community and help.

Overview of our programming this week

We are doing another 3 week cycle of the banded work followed later in the week by heavier lifts. If you did the first 3 week cycle with us, then you should be calculating everything off of a theoretical 1RM that +5-10 lbs. heavier than what you were working with on the last cycle.

Monday – Banded Bench-Press
Tuesday – Banded Front Squats
Wednesday – Snatch
Thursday – Back Squat
Friday – Push Press

We start off this week hard with a Hero WOD for firefighter Kenneth Kumpel. Tuesday the Benchmark Cindy with 200m runs thrown in every round. Wednesday is a couplet of deadlifts and box jumps, which is always a nasty combination as deadlifts employ slow twitch muscles and box jumps require you to switch to fast twitch. Thursday is a nice triplet with step-ups, HSPUs, and broad jumps. Friday is a triple AMRAP of power cleans and renegade rows. And Saturday is of course Murph!
