CrossFit Open at FTX

22.1 is done! We go into week 2 and are looking forward to 22.2 being announced this Thursday, March 3rd.
Remember that though the WODs are released on Thursdays, we’ll run them on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Friday Night Lights

Come again this Friday @ 6:30 pm to the party.

What a great first week! It was amazing to see everybody on Friday evening at Friday Night Lights. A BIG THANK YOU to our Masters and Teen athletes who really put the hammer down on 22.1!

This week we have a unique little point grab for the team challenge. During the week, we will be competing at…(drum roll please)…Fish Game! That’s right. Whatever score you get during the Fish Game ON THE ROWER, just add that to the board. Our scores will look a lot higher this week, but the rules are the same. You can’t gain points during coach led warm-ups or workouts, but anytime outside of that (while at the gym of course) play away! This is still an honor system competition, so just add each game score to the board.

For Friday Night Lights we will be doing our favorite kid’s game, Jack Be Nimble, Jack Be Quick. In 1:00 perform 10-yard Shuttle Runs to collect 5 blocks and place them in a bucket. After all the blocks are collected do as many hops over a PVC pipe on 16″ boxes. 

Lastly, for a bit of additional competitive fun, you can balance a PVC pipe in the palm of your hand for time. We will give you 5 seconds to begin your balance, and then the timer starts from there. points will be awarded to teams based on length of time.

We are looking forward to seeing you all on Friday, March 4th!

We will be open from 2:30pm – 3:30pm on Sundays to judge the Open WODs. If you are not doing the CrossFit Open, you can still come in on Sunday and do Open Box. On Saturdays we will have an alternate WOD available in addition to the Open WOD of the week.

Overview of our programming this week

We are going into the second week of the 2022 CrossFit Open. 22.2 will be our primary workout for Friday through Sunday. We will have an alternate workout for Saturday for those that did the Open workout on Friday and want something different. As always, given that we don’t know what the workout will be, we can’t tell you about it yet. Here is our strength/skill-work line-up for the week:

Monday – Bench Press
Tuesday – Pull-ups & Max. Height Box Jumps
– Pistols Skill-work
Thursday – Snatch Skill-work

Monday’s workout has a D/U buy-in to give you the opportunity to work on those as they surely will still show up in either 22.2 or 22.3. The rest of that WOD is a triplet of SDHP, Burpees and T2B. Tuesday is “Grace”. Wednesday is a longer 25 minute AMRAP w/ rowing, lunges/pistols, Scotty Bob’s and Indian (Atomic) Sit-ups. Thursday is a session of IWT (Interval Weight Training) consisting of Snatches and various cardio movements.

FTX Kids’ Classes – We have classes for 8-13 year-olds Tuesday through Friday at 4:30pm.
