CrossFit Open at FTX

The 2022 CrossFit Open starts this week! The first workout will be announced this Thursday, February 24th.
Though the WODs are released on Thursdays, we’ll run them on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each of the 3 weeks.

Friday Night Lights

Come this Friday @ 6:30 pm to the party.

Each week we will have a different group compete while representing the Black, Silver and Red teams we’ve created for the gym. February 25th is Masters’ & Teens‘ Night, March 4th is Men’s Night, and March 11th will be Ladies’ Night.

Remember, we will have snacks and other small competitions during that evening for those of you who are not doing the Open workout but still want to represent your team and gain some points. So come out to the party, cheer on our athletes doing the workout, and push for your team to be this year’s FTX Open champions!

We will be open from 2:30pm – 3:30pm on Sundays to judge the Open WODs. If you are not doing the CrossFit Open, you can still come in on Sunday and do Open Box. On Saturdays we will have an alternate WOD available in addition to the Open WOD of the week.
Register here for the CrossFit Open. You do not have to register for the Open to simply do the WODs at FTX. You do need to register for the CrossFit Open if you want to be judged. Please avoid doing the Open WODs on Mondays unless you really couldn’t do them Friday through Sunday, and then please avoid the busy classes. The CrossFit Open is a great time of camaraderie, challenging yourself, being a part of the worldwide CrossFit community and so much more. There will be scaling options so that people of all levels can participate. Join in on this amazing annual event that anyone can do.
Even if you are not officially signing up for the Open, you will have an opportunity to battle it out with your teammates to see which team will be the winner – Team Red, Team Black or Team Silver! The coaches have assigned participants to one of the three teams. We will have various challenges and games for all skill levels that the teams will complete throughout the three-week period (2/24-3/14) for excitement, rivalry, and bragging rights!

Overview of our programming this week

This week we will see the first workout of the 2022 CrossFit Open. This will be our primary workout for Friday through Sunday. We will have an alternate workout for Saturday for those that did the Open workout on Friday and want something different. But given that we don’t know what the workout will be, we can’t tell you about it yet. Suffice it to say, we are sure it will be a good one! Here is our strength/skill-work line-up for the week:

Monday – HS walks or progressions thereof
Tuesday – Cleans
– Bent-over rows and L-Sits
Thursday – Back Squat, Deadlift, Shoulder Press

Monday’s workout is a couplet of running and man-makers. Tuesday involves an unusual rep scheme and time domain, but we think you’ll figure out why we chose that. Thanks to Matt S. for the suggestion. Twosday’s movements are Cleans, S2O, Push-ups and Squats. Wednesday is a triplet consisting of core, pull-ups and KBS. Thursday is the CrossFit Total.

We always welcome WOD suggestions. If there’s a particular benchmark or movement you’d like to see, then let us know. Also, we do birthday WODs by request only. If you want a birthday WOD, please let us know a few weeks in advance!
