CrossFit Open at FTX – It’s that time of year again. It’s the CrossFit Open! It starts on Thursday, February 24th and goes for 3 weeks, and it’s a great event for ALL fitness levels.
The WODs are released on Thursdays and we’ll run them on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each of the 3 weeks. During the CrossFit Open we will be open from 2:30pm – 3:30pm on Sundays to judge the Open WODs. If you are not doing the CrossFit Open, you can still come in on Sunday and do Open Box. On Saturdays we will have an alternate WOD available in addition to the Open WOD of the week.
Register here for the CrossFit Open. You do not have to register for the Open to simply do the WODs at FTX. You do need to register for the CrossFit Open if you want to be judged. Please avoid doing the Open WODs on Mondays unless you really couldn’t do them Friday through Sunday, and then please avoid the busy classes. The CrossFit Open is a great time of camaraderie, challenging yourself, being a part of the worldwide CrossFit community and so much more. There will be scaling options so that people of all levels can participate. Join in on this amazing annual event that anyone can do.
Even if you are not officially signing up for the Open, you will have an opportunity to battle it out with your teammates to see which team will be the winner – Team Red, Team Black or Team Silver! We will have signup sheets at FTX to join the competition. The coaches will assign each person to one of the three teams. We will have various challenges and games for all skill levels that the teams will complete throughout the three-week period (2/24-3/14) for excitement, rivalry, and bragging rights!

Overview of our programming this week

Getting excited for the CrossFit Open. Even if you are not participating per se, the preparation we are doing is still great for improving your all-around fitness! Part of the CrossFit ethos is to prepare for the unknown and unknowable. We don’t know what life will throw at us, so we prepare for anything and everything.

Monday – Lunges
Wednesday
– Frankenstein Squats
Saturday – Snatch

Monday is a no measure day and will involve several strength movements. Tuesday is our past Open WOD (16.4/17.4) for the week. Wednesday is a double-AMRAP w/ squats, KBS and box jump overs. Thursday is a couplet of cleans/burpees using the classic rep scheme of 21-15-9. Friday is a progressive AMRAP chipper, where you get to do more if you complete the allotted work in the prerequisite time. (Just the kind of bonus everyone likes.) Saturday is a short 8 minute AMRAP w/ running and push-presses, which leaves plenty of time for snatch work.

FTX Yoga – Unfortunately due to a lack of demand, we’ve cancelled Yoga for the foreseeable future.

FTX Classes – We have the most extensive group class based schedule of any facility in the area. See our schedule here – https://ftxcrossfit.com/schedule/.

FTX Kids’ Classes – We have classes for 8-13 year-olds Tuesday through Friday at 4:30pm.

#FTXHomeWODs – We have plenty of gear for those of you that want to do some of these workouts at home, whether that is because of childcare situations, health reasons, schedule conflicts, or whatever. We can loan out all sorts of equipment, including rowers and barbells. We can also do personal training sessions with you at FTX or your home. If this is your situation, then please reach out to us so we can get you all setup!
